5 things I learned in the last year…
Welcome everyone!
Let’s jump right into the top 5 things I learned in the last year. If you are NEW here than welcome to Iliasis Muniz Photography! All of my clients and friends call me Ily and I’ve been mastering my talents for 10 plus years now in family, maternity, and children natural light portraits. I moved from South Padre Island, Tx to Fort Lauderdale, Fl over 6 months ago and I have been loving ALL of the changes. Even the really hard ones!
5 things I learned in the last year
- Never give up! – This is a saying you clearly have to keep in the forefront of your mind constantly, because it’s easier said than done. When I made the decision to move my whole life and photography business to another state I had to imagine everyday it was going to be worth it, even though I was unsure of what was going to happen once I arrived to Florida. I just had this feeling of something GOOD was coming. So do your best to keep this always on your mind.
- Friends & Family are KEY! – No matter if you are in a happy, sad, or big transition state of mind your family and friends will ALWAYS be your number one key in life. Do not let your brain tell you other wise or the random people on the streets. Deep down you know who they are in your circle, so keep them close as much as you can. Not only will they need YOU for when hard times come around, but their emotional support is one the biggest and healthiest ways to help you move forward.
- It’s OKAY to fail sometimes! – When you put your eggs all in one basket you are gambling away what may feel like your whole life’s work. Just remember where there is no risk there is no glory! Even if you fail you still did more than anyone else would have been able to do in a lifetime. Plus, you were able to say to yourself I did that and because it failed I can try something NEW now. Our journey comes in seasons and those seasons aren’t meant to last forever. When I opened up my photography studio in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, Fl I thought I had it all to succeed. However, without many new clients coming into the business I had to make the wise decision to close it down this past month. It’s OKAY to fail sometimes.
- Try something NEW! – While moving into a new city and meeting new potential clients takes time. I opted in joining a new career path that would be able to jump start and help my photography business. I evolved into becoming a Social Media Director for a marketing agency which was a thrilling new career path I wasn’t sure I was truly going to enjoy. However, the challenges I received by promoting someone else’s business was an amazing opportunity for my creative side to shine in a new way. I not only was able to help another business owner blossom via social media, but I was able to also sprout new talents of my own. Such as using my photography, social, and admin skills to create a company Magazine! Don’t ever be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, because you never know what you are capable of doing.
- Dream BIG! – I remember when I first started my photography career at the age of 22 I had no idea what I was doing first of all and second I just knew this feeling inside of me had to be seen and heard. Sometimes it’s just a feeling that you have which guides you into these dreams. It’s a bit hard to explain in words, but if you have that feeling as of right now please promise me you will take the time to pause and listen to yourself. Your intuition is one of the largest parts of your journey you MUST abide too. If you simply don’t it can eat you alive over time in life and one day you will regret never listening to that feeling. Promise me you will at least talk to a friend, family or even a random person at a coffee shop and tell them this dream you have stuck inside of you. Maybe the light bulb will switch on and you’ll find the courage it takes to say YES to making your dream into a reality.
