Beach Maternity Workshop 2019

I hosted a Maternity Workshop this spring for Melissa Rodriguez from Melissa Johanna Photography! We had a blast and I really enjoyed teaching what I love the most. I tried to showcase during this workshop how to shoot under unique circumstances such as bright sun and of course a beach filled with a crowd. We may have a dream session in mind, but when working with weather, high busy beach seasons, and schedules it’s best to know how to shoot in the unpredictable. 🙂

So our first session was shot in a field of flowers I had discovered around Bayview, Tx. It was a windy afternoon, so we were excited to use the flower crown which held Alicia’s (model) hair down and out of her face. We discussed some of my favorite angles and of course practiced them all! Shooting in the unexpected weather and sunlight is always great to practice your skills.

Beach time! We then hustled back to the studio to get ready for our evening session with the beautiful Patricia. We opted to drive to South Padre Island Isla blanca Park. Let’s just say there was a bit of traffic and were thankful our model had arrived before us. Again, the wind didn’t really lay down too much in the evening which is a fun way to get some of those hair and outfit shots. We used the jetties for a few fun angles and then hit the sand dunes for your endless beach maternity portrait session! Overall it was a wonderful weekend of teaching! 🙂

Thanks for following and checking out our work! We will be announcing our next Workshop in the next month. Stay on the look out.
